Embodiment
Frameworks are established, agility at team level works, but bottom-up not really. Managers are still stuck in command and control. Qualified personnel are leaving the company... Sounds familiar? This is where embodying agile values comes in.
Emotional Intelligence (EI) skills are what make the difference in leadership and team success. The State of Agile Report consistently highlights EI skills as key factors for successful implementation and adaptation of agile projects. In addition, Capgemini's report on Emotional intelligence highlights that "Organizations can achieve returns up to four times higher by investing in EI skills" and one of the main outcomes is "openness to change".
EI skills have twice the impact on performance compared to IQ
and the vast majority of skills described as positive or characerizing in outstanding leaders related to EI. Investment in EI pays off very quickly; through more productivity and better decisions.
Fostering psychological safety is the key factor for successful teams. In 2012, Google asked the question, why do teams succeed while others in the company fail? Read the full story here.
But to cut the story short, after the team conducting the study couldn't find a clue, they came across Amy Edmondson's work on psychological safety. And suddenly everything fell into place.
